DAY 01: Airport / Kandy (135 Km Approx)

  • Arrive at Colombo International Airport and meet Explore Lanka Travels agent at the airport entrance lobby.
  • Transfer from Airport to Pinnawala (optional depending on arrival time)

Those who want to see the tamed and semi-wild elephants in close proximity the best place is the “Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage”. It is located northwest of Kegalle town along the Colombo ~ Kandy main road. The orphanage is on a twenty-five-acre coconut land near Maha Oya. The vast area of shallow water and the huge rocks of Maha Oya make the ideal place to these magnificent animals. This facility was established in the year 1975 as a conservation breeding centre for Elephants by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. It was started with a herd of five baby Elephants. In the year 1978, it was taken over by the National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala Elephant orphanage is treated as one of the largest breeding centres in the world. Today the herd has Grownup to 69 elephants. Among the many elephants of the orphanage, there are three of them which will definitely get your attention. Namely “PANDU” “RAJA” and “SAMA”.

Visit a spice garden in Hingula to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Clients will be able to see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed.

DAY 02: Explore Kandy

  • Visit Dalanda Maligawa after Break first at the hotel

Kandy was the last capital of Sinhala Kings. The valley of Kandy is surrounded by magnificent hills which made it as the last bastion. Today Kandy offers its visitors rich collection of art and craft and historical buildings. It includes the collection of ancient temples buildings, handicrafts, souvenirs, bazaar and gem museum and the Temple of tooth relic which houses the most sacred Buddhist relic in the world, the Tooth of Lord Buddha. Visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts center, a gem museum and a lapidary. Witness a Cultural Show.

  • Visit Peradeniya Botanical Garden

Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is near the Mahaweli River. It is renowned for its collection of orchids.

Highlights include a fine collection of orchids, a stately avenue of royal palms, the extraordinary, aptly named cannonball fruit tree and 40m-high Burma bamboo. Another big hit is the giant Javan fig tree on the great lawn, with its colossal central trunk and umbrella-like canopy of branches. Peradeniya is 6km from central Kandy.

DAY 03: Kandy/Sigiriya ( Aprox 130 Km)

  • Transfer from Kandy to Sigiriya

Climb the citadel of Sigiriya which was built in the 5th century. Sigiriya is treated as one of the most remarkable creations in the world, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The path through the gardens along Stone stairways come to the Lion Gate. Only the rock carving and the brick structure is evident today of the lion’s mouth through which millions of people have walked to admire the beauty of this magnificent citadel.

  • Village Tour

Enjoy an excursion that takes you through the real Sri Lankan Villages. Clients will be able to ride on a Bullock Cart, a three-wheeler & have a home-cooked meal. It is a very pleasant experience!!

DAY 04: Sigiriya/Habarana

Do a jeep safari in Minneriya National park. The park covers an area of 8,889 hectares giving a home to 160 species of birds about 25 species of reptiles, 26 fish species, 09 amphibians, and more than 78 butterfly species. A park is an ideal place for elephant and leopard watching.

DAY 05: Sigiriya/Colombo

In the afternoon, do a city tour of Colombo. Colombo is the commercial and business center of Sri Lanka located on the west coast. The city blends together with old colonial type building, high-rise commercial buildings, and hotels. It is filled with shopping malls. Some of the finest structures built during colonial times still preserved in one part of the City. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower. And the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) which was a gift to Sri Lanka from the People’s Republic of China.

DAY 06 :Colombo/Negambo

  • Travel to Negombo after Breakfast & Explore Negombo

Negombo is a coastal city in the West Coast of Sri Lanka. It is famous as a fishing hub. Thus so many traditional fishermen live in Negombo. It is a tourist attraction. The city is so lively with the number of different restaurants, shops, pubs & hotels. The beach road is the ideal place for hanging out.

Being a coastal town, Negombo is housed to thousands of fisherman who actively take part in fishing on a daily basis. The excess catch is Being dried & preserved using indigenous technologies. One can visit the area where locals are busy with drying fish & packing them. Well, the smell is a part of the experience.
